Social Neuroscience in Health Psychology

Where social neuroscience and health psychology intersect

Our Research

Our research investigates how social and cultural context influences brain and physical health outcomes. We use state of the art methods of:

Neuroimaging

Eligible participants undergo a brain scan to look at brain structure and how the brain works.

Cognitive Assessment

Cognitive testing checks for how the brain functions, called “cognition.” Participants engage in paper, pencil or oral tests of memory, learning and concentration

Biomarkers

We collect biomarkers (short for biological markers) in the form of blood, urine, and saliva samples, body composition, blood pressure, and temperature.

Psychosocial Assessment

A psychosocial assessment is a comprehensive assessment of mental health status, social status, cultural factors, and functional status in a community.
